Radio Silence Broken…Finally!

Well, we have been quite for a VERY long time, but that is for good reason.  The last year has been a hectic one here.  Over the last year a lot of things have changed.

My wife and I had our first child, a son we named Samuel Gregory.  Needless to say, that has been quite the life changer!  He is not just over 5 months old, and things are just now starting to settle into a routine.  This was him for his first Halloween, dressed as Mike Wazowski.

While my wife was pregnant, it made us really evaluate our current situation, and with a small house, and a growing business, we decided we had two options.  First was to move the business into its own space, and the second was to move us and the business into a new house with more room.  After a millisecond of thought, we hit the internet and started looking for houses.  I don’t know if you have every home shopped with a pregnant woman, who isn’t crazy about looking at houses anyway, but if you haven’t, I wouldn’t suggest it!  Luckily we have a very understanding real estate agent, who has been a fried for quite some time, so she was able to be very accommodating to our schedules and availability.  After a few months of looking, we finally found a great place, and the process of moving in started.  You never realize just how much junk you have, until you start moving it.  It took almost 4 full days, with two trailers and countless friends, before we had most everything moved.  At the end, we got so tired of trying to pack everything neatly, that we started just throwing everything into boxes, saying we would sort it out later.  Well, most of those boxes are now in the attic, just as unsorted as when they first got packed.  My game plan on those is to simply toss the box if we haven’t opened it by next year.  The best thing about the new house, in my opinion, is the garage!  The one requirement I had was that the boat needs to fit in the garage.  After keeping it outside almost 10 years, I thought it was time to treat it right.  Now, it’s like a giant shelf in the garage, that somehow gets cleaned off every weekend at 5am.

So a new house and a new baby, what else is new?  Well, I’m so glad you asked!

On top of everything else, we decided it would be a good idea to begin developing a new website.  Ever since we started Home Brewed Tackle, we wanted to expand to all outdoor activities.  There are a lot of great craftsmen who make exquisite game calls, knives and all sorts of non-fishing gear.  The biggest issue we had was the ability to bring it all in house.  We are still a very small business, and it is just not feasible for us to purchase all the great products we come across.  So, we decided the website needed a bit of an update.  We are still in the very early stages, but now vendors can create their own accounts, upload, sell and ship products directly.  Also, since we are no longer going to be exclusive to fishing tackle, we changed our name to Home Brewed Outdoors.  We are still working on some of the processes, but the site has been launched, and is in a sort of “beta” test right now.    You can check it out by clicking the logo below:

That’s all the major changes so far!  We are hoping to start posting consistently again soon.  I’ve already got a couple posts in the work, just need to add the finishing touches.  Until then, tight lines!
